2012 February
Sorry about the delay; having software issues that appear to be resolved. Here’s the latest stage on the Italian piece. Some parts have come together well; others, not so much. I may actually start this one over. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
This Friday is the first Friday of the month, so it’s time for the Tour of the Arts. As usual, we at the Factory will be participating. Our venue is great to visit, and makes a great place to park. You can take the trolley from the Factory to all the particpating galleries, without any hassle. I’ll have my usual fare: cookies and cheap wine, so come on out for a great evening of art and fun. The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
So I got the bridge in, and will add the trees that overhang in the foreground next. Then I’ll adjust whatever needs adjustment. So far, this one is going along pretty well. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I got a chance to work on this piece some more. I posted the first stage a couple of weeks back. Now the background is done, and if you look closely, you’ll see the railroad bridge sketched in. Then will come the overhanging branches. I think this may turn out pretty well. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
So here’s the final version of the painting of the vet student and his patient. I completed the background and added a diploma. There were some minor adjustments to his face and hands as well. My client is quite pleased, and when we get it matted and framed, it should make a great present. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the detail on the new Italian painting showing the church tower. You can see how the tower faces are more precise and show the curve of the six faces. This will be the same for most of the buildings, although some of the ones in the back will not be that detailed. This piece will take some time. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s a shot of the first color washes on the Cinque Terra painting. I’ve got the sky, background hills, water and buildings blocked in. I have done a little more work on the church tower. Still in the very early stages of the painting, so stay tuned. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I posted the first stage of this new painting last week. Here’s the second stage. I’ve added details to his jacket, the papers, and the table top. So far, it’s turning out quite well and has a great, if somewhat Norman Rockwell, look. And, since there’s nothing wrong with Norman Rockwell, I’ll push on. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the drawing for a new commission piece showing a village in Cinque Terra, Italy. This was a place my client visited, and now she’ll have a painting to remember it by always. Stay tuned as this develops. And don’t forget about the In the Nude II show tomorrow night! jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Reminder about the show coming up Saturday night at The Building in East Nashville. The Building is behind Beyond the Edge at Five Points. It’s a neat little venue. There are some really good art pieces in the show. I dropped mine off yesterday and the show is looking good. Come on out for an interesting evening. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
