2012 January
I got to work on these guys some more, and except for a few polish up details, they are done. I think the overall effect is pretty good. I still need to put in whiskers and such, but otherwise, I got the effect I wanted with these cute guys. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Thought I would bring a smile on Monday morning with these guys. Just got started on them, but they already look pretty cute. I’ll work on adding the rest of the bodies and such later and let you see how they come along. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final version on the child portrait. I did more on the sweater and the background, and finalized the details on the hair and such. He turned out pretty well, especially considering the reference photo I was working from. This looks good in the frame I got for all three portraits, and hopefully, the clients will like it, too. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final version of a piece I posted back before Christmas. I finished the details and, added more glaze and mounted the piece in a floater frame. The glare off the shiny varnish finish makes the little snow leopard hard to see, but it’s there in the lower right quadrant. My cliet really liked the piece, so that’s the important part. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
So here’s the status on the family. This stage has everything blocked in and ready for finishing. Next will be refining the details, making sure the faces are correct, and adding a background color. So far they are working well, just a lot more to do. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Just to give you a break from the portraits, here’s a little (5×7) watercolor piece I did of a fall tree scene. Looks nice and soft in real life, so it’s a good look. I may or may not have this one matted and framed. Will have to see. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the first stage of block in on the husband and wife portrait. This stage is to establish the values and get the skin tones down. Then comes the details. Again, there are three sets of portraits that I’m working on, so there will be more of these to come. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Tonight’s the monthly Franklin Art Scene Tour of the Arts. The art galleries of Franklin will be open tonight, including mine and the other artists at the Factory. Come on out to the Factory first, tour, sip wine, then grab the trolley for the rest of the tour. See you tonight from 6 to 9. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
So yesterday I showed you the drawing for the child portrait. Here’s the first stage, which is a pretty good block in of his face. At this point, there is not a lot of contrast, so that is the next step. Stay tuned. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the last of the drawings for the portrait series I’m doing. This is from an old photo portrait and is a good pose but poor color. I’m trying to make him a little more lively than in the old faded photo. Again, this one will be shown in progress as I work on the deadline for these. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
