2011 December
Here’s a little fall scene to take us out to holiday. This is a little odd: it’s a 3.5×6, so it’s really small. It’s egg tempera on board, so that’s a little different, too. In any event, it’s a very nice, soft feel. This one someone should get, for sure. Anyway, off until January 2. Hope everyone has a great holiday season. Until next year. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s a piece in progress for a client. Its’ a 24×24 loose snow scene. It’s got the textured technique I’ve used before, so the finish is glossy and like ice. So far, it’s turning out pretty well. I still have more touches to do, then the final. Also, my sense of time is really off. I still will post something tomorrow, since it will be Friday. Sorry about the misstatement yesterday. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final of the Christmas pieces. This one was mostly about the scene, though there is a dog in it. I think the people came out okay; hard to do a portrait at such a small scale. I know the water and reflections turned out well, so it’s all good. One more post tomorrow, and then a break. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
So I got these guys done, and that’s the last of the Christmas dogs. I actually have two more to do, but not for Christmas. Now I’ve got a lake scene (which does have a dog in it) and a snow scene to finish, then holiday. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s another dog portrait for Christmas. This little guy is Thomas, and he turned out pretty well. This photo is not the best, but his eyes are quite good. I think I understand dog eyes now. I love to paint them. So now, just a few more projects this week and then on to vacation. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Okay, the title is a little smart alecky. I’ve been doing so many Christmas pet portraits that I’m a little punchy. So this is the male side of the family on the lake with their pup. This is another Christmas present as well, so that’s good and fun. I appreciate the chance to help with some seasonal cheer. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I’ve had a bunch of these for Christmas presents. Here’s another one that’s close to being done. These guys are really cute together, and I’m trying to make them have a lot of form. There are still more touches I want to make, but they are already looking really good. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the last of the four pet set, Vader. He’s got a real attitude, and I think I caught that pretty well. In my reference photo, he was mostly dark, so I really focused on the eyes, which turned out quite well. My client really liked him a lot, so that’s good. A few more paintings for the Christmas orders and I get to take some time off. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the first of the two cats I did for my client. This is Sammie, a calico. I think I caught the “catanality” pretty well. One more cat and then a few more paintings before Christmas, then a well deserved vacation. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
While I was working on Ella, I was also working on six other pet portraits. (I do a lot of them for Christmas.) Here’s Annie, who is a shepard. She and Ella are a pair, as are the cats I’ll be showing in the coming days. I think I caught her personality pretty well here. This will be mostly a pet week, so stay tuned. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
