Here’s a reminder about the show this weekend at The Martin Center in Brentwood. The opening reception is Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday is from noon to 7 p.m. and Satuday is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This was a really good show last year, and should be good again. A portion of all sales goes to support the Martin Center, so the show is for a good cause. Please come out and support the Martin Center and the local arts. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
The Martin Masters show is next weekend at the Martin Center in Brentwood. I had started this pieces weeks ago and finally realized I wanted to finish it to put in the show. So I got back to work on it yesterday after teaching my class. This one is really quite large - 48×48 and is pretty impressive. I should get this finished in time for the show. Come out next weekend and see it. I’ll post more information about the show next week. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s more progress on the portrait of Angel. She’s coming along. Now the background needs to be finished and I need to put in the texture of her fur. She’s a really pretty girl, so I want to do her right. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s an update on the house and snow scene. I’v e gotten the columns detailed, as well as the house, and put in the snow and the background sky. Now comes the trees and the final touches. Stay tuned; this one is turning out really well. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I’ve got so many things going on now, I working back and forth. Here’s the first applications of color on the new pet portrait of Angel. You can see the eyes and nose getting done, then I’ve started on the fur. Now on to the rest of her coat and the final details. More as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the first pass with color on the Cathedral piece. So far this is only rough block in. Now it’s on to detailing the tower, then putting in a nice sky. More as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Barring an unforeseen circumstance, I’ll be in the Artisans in the Belfry show at the Cathedral of the Incarnation November 10, 11 and 12. So, for the show, I’m doing a painting of the cathedral bell tower. I did this painting from a photo I took some few years ago, and since that one sold, I thought I would do another just for the show. Stay tuned as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I got to work on the house in the snow piece. I posted the drawing Tuesday, and got to work on the color some yesterday. Nothing on this is finished yet, but you can already get a feel for the house and the stone pillars. I’m thinking this may be a good one when done. More as this progresses. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I posted the drawing for this one back a few days ago. Here’s the current status. I’ve got the sky mostly done, and the dot of blue tape is gone. The lake still needs work, and of course I’ve got to put in the trees and the details on the dock. It is starting to come together. Stay tuned for more developments. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the underdrawing for a new piece. This is a childhood home in the snow. It will be a present for some lucky person. I’ll start on the color sometime later this week. More as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
