2011 August
I got to work on this a little over the weekend. It’s really almost done. I just need to add a few details and touch up some stuff. Otherwise, it’s turning out quite nicely, and I’m getting a lot of good comments on it. I am particpating in this Friday’s Franklin Art Scene art crawl, so it may well go home with someone Friday. So, if you are interested, contact me know. Come on out Friday, too. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the second in the new landscape series. This one is “Lone Tree.” It’s a 9×12 so a nice small size to fit anywhere in a home or office. Again, this one has that same nice, soft feeling I’m going for. I should be able to get a nice frame for it today and it will be ready to go to someone’s home or office. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final on the little landscape I posted last week. I added another layer or two of color and shapes. The photo doesn’t really capture the softness of the piece. It’s got a real dreamy, impressionistic effect in person. I’ve already got it in a nice frame and it looks really good. This is the kind you can look at everyday and see something new. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the first layer on the first piece in a new series of landscape pieces I’ve started. I’m going to have several pieces in the Art & Invention Gallery in East Nashville in late September, and these will be there (assuming they don’t sell first). These will be more of the layered type like you’ve seen before, and I think they are going to turn out well. More as these develop. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the first block in on a new piece, “Poppies.” This is a 24×36, so it’s a decent size. I want to keep it pretty loose and fun. More to do, but so far, I’m liking it. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s one I did for a client a while back. This is a Nashville skyline. I took the reference photo hanging out of a car on the interstate. The light was just perfect when I took the photo, and I think I captured it pretty well. The piece was a 30×40, so it was a good size. My clients loved it and have it prominently hanging in their home. I love doing commissions, so give me a call. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I have not gotten to do a pet portrait in a while. I really enjoy trying to capture the essense of the pet. This beautiful cat is one of mine. I keep this in the studio as a reminder that I do pets. I keep the real cat at home. Contact me on these. All I need is a good photo. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s one that I did a while back. It’s still hanging over at Casserly’s Custom Cabinets in the Factory. It’s a Williamson County evening in the later summer when the hay has just been cut and baled. Pretty nice little piece. Makes you feel kind of peaceful. Contact me on this one. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
This big landscape is currently on display at the Williamson County Realtors Association. It’s a big piece, 48×48, and looks really terrific in their lobby. It would also look terrific in your home or office. Go by and visit the nice folks there and take home the painting. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
This is a piece I did earlier in the year and donated to a fundraiser through Nashville Paws magazine. The proceeds went to Happy Tales Humane to help abandoned animals. It’s pretty simple and subtle, but nice. Enjoy. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
