2011 June
Here’s the start of a new landscape piece. The sky is mostly done. The water is only blocked in. New comes the palm trees, birds, a couple of sail boats and flowers. Should be pretty interesting when done. Stay tuned for more updates. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I saw this in a piece about architecture in Santorini. I love the way the shadows fall around the spiral of the staircase. So I did a little drawing of it for fun. I’ll also do a color painting version of it. That will be coming soon. Stay tuned. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s a drawing of Carnton here in Franklin that I did as an exemplar for a new service I’m offering. I can do a graphite drawing of your home, mount it in a nice mat, and provide ten (10) custom note cards with the image for $250. This is a great way to showcase your home. Contact me about this. All I need is a good photo. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I was so proud of my students this weekend. Their works looked just great at The Factory in Franklin. They all worked so very hard to put up a good show, and succeeded. Thanks to them for all the work, and for creating such great art, and for allowing me the privilege of being their teacher. And thanks for all who came out to this great show. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
The show at The Factory in Franklin benefiting Hillsboro Tomorrow, a foundation for Hillsboro Middle School, starts this evening. The opening reception is tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., then continues tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We have a unique collaborative piece that will be for auction. We have a limited number of notecards of the piece. And we have lots of local original art for sale to benefit the school. We’ll have food, refreshments and music tonight, cookies tomorrow. So come on out and enjoy and support a great cause. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final version on the large landscape I’ve been working on. I think it turned out quite well. The fall colors are vibrant, and the trees have enough detail to make them interesting. This one is destined to hang over a large fireplace, and should be quite striking. I’ve certainly enjoyed creating this, and hope my clients enjoy it for years to come. They are picking it up Saturday, so it will be on display Friday evening at our benefit event. Come out and see it. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s a reminder that we are having a show this weekend at the Factory in Franklin to benefit Hillsboro Tomorrow, and ultimately Hillsboro Middle School. We will have a unique original art piece for sale, with all proceeds going to the foundation, and 30% of all art from both the student and the artists on The Row at the Factory will go to the foundation. We will have music and food and light refreshments, and fun. Come on out and help a great cause and come home with great original local art. Opening reception is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 24th, and the show continues Saturday 10 to 5. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s a new seascape piece I just finished. It is for a client, but I’m going to do a couple more in this vein. I really like the look I’m getting. This is an acrylic on bristol board, so it’s kind of watercolorish and oilish at the same time. This one is a 16×20. If you like it, I’d be happy to do anyother for you, any size. It will be on display this weekend at our event at the Factory in Franklin, so come out and enjoy. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s a new floral piece I just finished, “Beginning to Fade.” We have a great little magnolia outside the rear entrance to the Factory. It always blooms so beautifully, I just love to paint it. This bloom was just beginning to fade, hence the title. This is an 11×14 in a nice little frame. Very attractive. This will be on sale at this weekend’s event, so come on out and take it home. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the collaborative piece my students and I have done for the benefit show next Friday. We took individual 10×10 canvases and painted local and state landmarks and icons. Then, the pieces are put together in a single frame. The result is quite spectacular. This piece will be auctioned off at the show and then will hang permanently at Hillsboro Middle School, with a donor plaque. This is a one of a kind creation, so be sure to come out and see it and bid next Friday night. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
