2011 March
Here’s the third stage of the Eastside Cycles painting. I’ve got the skyline and background blocked in. The bat building has a little detail in it, but not much. The next step is to detail out the buildings, railing, etc. More as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the second day’s work on this piece. The sky is now in. On to the buildings. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
So I got started on the piece for Eastside Cycles. I’ve got color on the rider and her bicycle. I realized the dark writing on the jersey is not showing up well, so it will get lighter. Now on to the sky and the skyline. Makes me want to go for a ride. Which I think I’ll do. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final version of Champ and Domino. These guys were a challenge, what with all the curly hair and such. Nonetheless, I captured them pretty well and their people are quite happy with the portrait. Now, on to bicycles and other things. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Not quite done yet. I did not get quite as much time to work on it yesterday as I hoped. Today, for sure, it will be done. They are getting really close, and looking pretty good. This has been a really good one to work on. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s an update on Champ and Domino. These guys are proving a little tough. I’ve got Domino (on the right) about done, except for a couple of tweaks. Champ is giving me fits, but I will get him down, maybe today. Hopefully, the next update will be the final. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I’ve been riding bicycles for about 15 years now. I’ve been fortunate to have a great bike shop in my neighborhood, Eastside Cycles. I’ve been promising Scott at Eastside a painting to promote his shop, and I finally got started on one. This will combine the bike, the rider and a great view of downtown Nashville. So here’s the drawing. Now, I’ll just have to get the color on. More as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final version of “The Sherriff.” I punched up the background and tweaked the details a little. Now it’s better and pretty sweet. Again, this one is at The Strutting Mutt at the Factory in Franklin. Go by and see the great folks there, get this painting, and some cool stuff for you dog. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the little fun pet piece finished. I added the background and tweaked a few details. This is a little 5×7, so it’s small and makes a nice little decorative pet piece. The lovely folks at The Strutting Mutt shop in the Factory at Franklin are carrying these pieces and advertising my pet portraits, so stop by and see them for this piece. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the second in the fun pet series. “The Sherriff’s Back in Town” is a cute guy, lurking behind a tree to catch the bad guys. Actually, he’s one of my guys, caught in a pose trying to talk a squirrel down out of a tree. These two are about done; just need to go back and tweak a few things. More as these progress. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
