2011 January
Well, I’m still going on this one. It’s getting close, finally. I still need to finish the details on the faces and put a few highlights in. Hopefully, I can get this one done today. More later. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Yesterday was a busy day and I did not get much of a chance to work on this. All I got done was the block in on the clothing and background. At least you can see where it’s going. Today I’ve got to get a chance to really get this one on the road. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Sorry about yesterday. There was a problem early in the day with my server, so I could not access my website. Now it’s all working properly. Here’s an update on the family portrait. I’ve got the faces about 75% done. Now I will work on the clothing and background, then put final touches on the faces. More as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Well, here’s the final version of the penguin piece. I called it “Promenade,” since they are all walking along. The two behind are not sure about the leader, though. Anyway, this one turned out quite well. I’ve had more response to this than almost anything, so that’s pretty cool. I think I’ll do a couple more penguin pieces. They are cool little guys and fun to paint. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the intermediate stage on a new animal piece. Hopefully, it’s apparent these are penguins, or at least, my interpretation of them. The coloration is deliberate. When the background is done, the color will make more sense. Anyway, more as this one develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the giraffe as painted. She turned out kind of cute. I think it’s not too realistic; just enough. Anyway, she was fun. I might want to do another with a different twist. Giraffes are so cool. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the sketch for a new family portrait I’ve been commissioned to do. I have not added shading to the clothing; I’ll do that with the paint. I wanted to get the faces a little realistic. Of course, the final version will have more facial details. More as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
My whimsical animals have been a hit, so here is another one in the works. This is a cute little giraffe. It’s a long, tall piece, which makes sense, since the giraffe is a long, tall animal. I should get some color on it today, so more as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final on “Last Light.” I added the tip of the setting sun, and adjusted a few clouds and reflections. This piece looks really nice, if I do say so. I have it in a nice, classic gold frame and it makes a stunning piece. It’s a 30×20, so it’s pretty good sized, but not overly large. Come by and take this one home. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the finished big landscape. It now has lots of texture and little details in the ground part, and the trees also have some texture and more detail. It’s a little romanticised, which is okay. This makes a very, very big impression, especially since it’s a 48×48. I’ll get a nice frame on it later in the week and it will be ready to go. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
