2010 December
Here’s the final (I think) on a piece I started sometime back. This one got sidetracked with all the Christmas orders, but I got to finish it yesterday. So I may work a little this morning, and then I’m off for Christmas holiday. I probably won’t post anything new until after New Year’s, so I wish all of you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. And, I thank everyone for helping make this a great year. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I posted the drawing for this some time ago. This is a birthday present for this little girl, who was four at the time of the photo. She will be 94 in a week. I took a black and white photo and did this painting for her. It turned out much better than I expected. I have a little tweaking to do on the face and hair, but otherwise, this one is done. I wish her a happy birthday, and am honored to get to do this painting. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final version of the Christ Cathedral. I finished the sky and took out the background building. I also polished up a few of the details. This turned out pretty well, and I’ve gotten a lot of good comments on it so far. My client is very happy, as well, so that’s all good. Today I should finish the last of the Christmas pieces, so I will be ready for a break. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the finished portrait of the child. I thought I would show it to you in the frame. Sometimes I don’t put the frame on it, but this frame makes the whole piece quite bold and exciting. She turned out pretty well, and the client seems happy, so we are good to go on this one. One more piece before Christmas, and then a holiday. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I’ve got another child portrait to do for Christmas. Here’s the status so far. It’s in the still rather early stages, but is starting to look a little decent. I plan on working on her more today to try and get her done. More later. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I got to work on this piece some more, and it’s about 80% done. I still need to finish the sky and the background and then straighten up a few of the building details. I think it’s turning out pretty well, and my client is pleased, so that’s all good. More as it gets done. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the (maybe) final on Jose. The face is good but I’m still not sure about the body. I wanted him to get lost in the dark background, but he may be too lost. I’ll see what the client thinks and then maybe adjust a little. Otherwise, I’ve got the little guys done. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final on the first of the two pups, Juan. He turned out pretty well. I worked on he and his brother all day, and tomorrow I’ll post Jose. Then they will go to my client for a Merry Christmas. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the underpainting on a new piece for Christmas. This is Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Nashville. I’ve got to get this done for a Christmas present. The only problem now is the 4 inches of snow on the ground. I guess I’ll be pioneering to the studio later and see how it goes. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
While I did get to work quite a bit yesterday, I’ll hold those photos until next week to remind everyone about tonight’s event at the Factory. We’ll have live music by Jack Grant, light refreshments and wine, and all the art you can take home, or just look at. I like the take home part best. Anyway, come on out tonight. No admission except for a good attitude. See you tonight. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
