2010 October
As you may recall, I have been doing vacation paintings. People send me a vacation photo, and I produce a painting from that photo, so you have a memory of the trip. This one is for a young lady whose parents were in Italy. This is not finished yet, but you can see that there is ocean and figures and such. Hopefully, she will be happy with the finished product. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I’ve posted the progress on this pet portrait several times, and I thought it would be nice to see the actual final product, frame and all. This turned out quite well, and looked great in the frame. My client was really happy with the piece. I do enjoy doing the pets. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s an update on the “Birches” piece. This is actually a 24×48, so it’s a pretty big piece. The right two foreground trees have been fairly well detailed. I have not gotten to the left tree yet. I may get a chance to work more on it today, so I’ll update it when it’s done. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Hopefully the weather won’t be bad by 6:30 tonight, and everyone can come out to Battle Ground Brewery and Restaurant for art and music. BGB is on Bridge Street in Franklin, in the historic jail house, and is really a cool place. I’ll have art there for sale, along with other artists and music by Jason Wyatt. So come on out. See you tonight. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s a new abstract I did on commission from a client. The title is “When Worlds Collide,” which was a popular science fiction book when I was a kid, and also describes a number of cultural conflicts. It’s a 12×16, and I incorporated the colors of her office into the piece so it should look great when it’s hung. She was very happy with it. Contact me if you would like something unique for your work or living space. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
A little more information on next Tuesday’s show at Battle Ground Brewery and Restaurant in Franklin. The venue is really neat: it’s the old county jail, and it’s been redone very nicely. The upstairs music room will have the art, textiles and jewelry, as well as the music by Jason Wyatt. This sounds like it will be a lot of fun, so come on out. No cover charge. Have some fun, buy some arts and crafts and support Franklin. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the update on Brutus. He’s not done yet. There is no background, and there are a few things that need to be adjusted on his face. Still, he’s really close. I do enjoy doing these pets. They are so much fun and I love getting their expressions. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Looks like I’ll be participating in a one night art and music show at Battleground Brewery in Franklin. Looks like it should be a good show. There are several artists and musicians involved. It’s next Tuesday, October 26 from 6:30 to 8:30, so come on out and have a good time (and get some good art!). jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the start on a new dog portrait. This is Brutus, a really sweet cocker spaniel. I just got started on it, so it’s in the early stages. More as this one develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s “Rhinehart.” He’s not done yet. I still want to put in some of the textural features like on “Duckie.” I kind of like him, though, and must say, doing these kind of paintings is fun. More as this develops. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
