2010 September
Here’s an update on the couple’s portrait I started last week. This one is taking shape nicely. I’ve still got a lot of work to do, of course, but the start is good. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s another of the series at Talula Gallery in East Nashville. This one is a 3×12, so it’s a small piece that would make a neat accent almost anywhere. These are at very reasonable price points, so go by Talula Gallery and check these out. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Don’t forget about this weekend’s art show at sale at Christ the King School. This is a benefit for the school, so it’s for a good cause. Christ the King School has been on Belmont Boulevard for decades, and has served the community well. There will be 40 artists at the event, so there will be plenty to see and do. Oh, and I’ll be there as well. Come on out. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s one of a new set of abstract drip paintings that are at Talula’s Gallery in East Nashville. Talula’s had its grand opening last Saturday, There are six of these pieces down there, at very attractive prices. Talula’s is in Five Points in East Nashville and shares the building with the Pied Piper Creamery. Go check it out and get one of these pieces as well. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s an update on the portrait drawing I posted a few days ago. I’ve got her face mostly done, and started on the dress. Now to tweak and finish the background. I think she’s looking pretty good so far. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
The third annual Christ the King School art show is coming up next weekend, October 1-3. Friday night is the preview party from 6 to 9. There is a $10 admission for that event. Saturday is open all day, 11 to 7, and Sunday from 9:30 to 3. This has been a good show the last two years, and promises to be even better this year. Come on out and see (and buy) some great art and help a good cause. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I’m doing two of these young people. Here’s the underdrawing for the second one. Different pose and orientation. These are going to make nice presents for the family. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the underdrawing for another new portrait set. I think I’m getting the hang of this, maybe. Still need more practice. Fortunately, I seem to be getting that. Maybe I’ll be a portraitist after all. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the final on the baby portrait. The reference photo was black and white, so this is in sepia tones. I think it’s a pretty neat look. These are getting to be a lot of fun. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the drawing for another new portrait. This one will be in color and have flowers in the bottom foreground. I think I’m getting better with these portraits. Practice always helps! jcannon1@bellsouth.net
