2010 August
I had posted the raw first layer a week or so ago. Here’s the second session with this piece. He’s taking form pretty well. She’s starting to work. I still need to complete details and maybe adjust the skin tones a little bit. Oh, and a background. It’s making progress, though. More later. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s another portrait done. This one seemed to work out pretty well. It was an interesting positioning of the heads, with two different planes for the pose. That made for a challenge on getting the features correct, but I think I got them pretty well. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s another portrait finished. I’ve been working on these non stop, so it’s nice to see them getting to completion, and hopefully satisfactory. Now on to a couple more. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Except for input from my client, this one is done. By the way, this is a terrible photo. There was a glare I could not get rid of when I was shooting it. Anyway, I think this may get the image across of the family and grandmother there as a spirit watching over them. My client will have the final word, of course. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Been a good two days off, although I think I worked harder getting all the things done I needed to do than I would have at the studio. Anyway, back to work today. Here’s a nice piece I have called “Iris at the Fence.” It’s a nice little piece, a 12×16 in a nice frame that makes a pleasant landscape/floral piece. Come by and see it, since I’ll be back today. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s one I still have, although it is currently hanging across the hall at Mark Casserly Woodworking. It’s finally cool this morning, and starting to feel like fall. (I know, it will still be hot later; just being hopeful) So I thought this would be nice. Come by and see it. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I’ve been working on this one. It’s three generations of the family together. The grandmother is in monochrome for a sylistic reason and because the reference photo is in black and white. They are turning out pretty well. I should get this one finished this week. More later. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s the beginning of another portrait piece. This one is already working pretty well, so it should just get better and better. More as these develop. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I had put the first layer of this one on a few days ago. Here’s the second layer. Now on to the final details and this one will be done. I may be getting the hang of these portraits. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Seems I have several portraits to do lately. Here’s the first layer of skin tone on another. I should be able to work on this today and get more details down. Progress will be reported. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
