New “painterly” landscape

I’ve been looking at the styles I’ve gravitated toward over the years.  Seems there are two basic styles:  linear and painterly.  Linear tends to be more realistic, blended and accurate.  That is what I have gone toward.  Just look at yesterday’s floral.  It is precise and accurate, with lots of blending and no noticeable brushstrokes.  This is the way the “old masters” painted.  “Painterly” is more loose, open, with brush strokes and little if any blending.  So I did this little 5×7 yesterday in a very painterly fashion, just to keep my hand in that style.  I do like it and will play with this more in the near future.  It’s not that one is better than the other; just different.
