Here is a new abstract I did over the weekend. I’ve called it “Cloudburst.” This is a very deep, dense little painting, with about 5 layers of color on it. I have been using unprimed canvas and building up layers of color into the canvas. Makes a really cool effect. This one is pretty small, 11×14. I am going to frame this one in a floater frame. It is not framed yet, but will be shortly. Price will be $195.00 framed. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I have some new stuff to show you as the week goes on, but I wanted to start out Monday with this flyer again. This weekend promises to be a good show, with lots of good art for a good cause. This is meant to be a major fundraiser for Christ the King School, so we are promoting it as much as possible. I know the economic situation is unsettled right now, and there is some anxiety out there. That is no reason not to support the arts and this institution. So come out this Friday evening from 6-9, Saturday 12-8 and Sunday 12-4. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
You didn’t get the drawing for this one, just the 3/4 finished version. Again, my camera apparently does not give a warning prior to conking out. Anyway, this is a jack in the pulpit, which I thought had really cool shapes. This is not finished yet. I still have some adjusting to do to get the feel I want. I think it will be a decent little floral. It’s an 8×10, so pretty small. More on it when finished. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Well, I actually had two new drawings I had done for paintings that I was going to post this morning, but when I went to take the photos, my camera battery conked out. So here is another oldie of the Taj Mahal. This one is an acrylic on illustration board, which makes for a slightly different feel. The building itself is very soft in this format. Overall, the piece looks quite good. The illustration board is mounted on a panel and framed out nicely. Price is $295, and it’s a 16×20. Come by and see it at the studio at the Factory in Franklin. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Here’s another abstract I still have, called “Longing for Calm.” It’s done on unprimed canvas, and has several layers, including the first one that is very watercolor like and soft, then built up to some texture on the strings. It’s pretty neat, and has a sense of shapes and things going on in it that keep you looking. This is a 24×36, and is framed in a dark gold floater frame, and looks very good. Price is $375.00, framed. Come by and see it at the studio in the Factory at Franklin. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
It’s Tuesday, so another oldie. This is a piece I did last year of a lily. Very simple, but soft look to the flower. It is an acrylic, and looks a good bit more like an oil. This is done with many layers of glaze with the paint, so it has a lot of depth. This piece is a small one, 9×12, and is framed for $195.00. This is presently not at my studio, but another location, so contact me if interested. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Well, I know it is somewhat similar to last week’s abstract. It is an outgrowth of that one, since someone viewing it mentioned a “wormhole,” the theortical point where space and time fold in on itself. So this is the finished version of the background I showed on Friday. It has a pretty good feel to it, and is very deep in the colors. Again, this photo just does not do it justice. It’s a 20×30, gallery wrapped and ready to hang for $295.00. Come by and see it at the studio in the Factory at Franklin. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
Okay, I admit it: it’s been a bit tough for me since my crash a few weeks ago. I have been dealing with a lot of pain and post-concussion stuff, so I have not done a lot of new work. The “Higgs Bosun” piece is one of my favorites, and I’m happy with that, but there has not been much else. So I thought I would put on today all I got done yesterday, which is a background for another abstract. Frankly, I’m not sure what this is going to be, but I thought I would put it on here as it progresses. Who knows? Maybe this will take off, too. Any ideas would be appreciated. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
This is a new piece I did at the studio, called “Through the Atmosphere.” It is mostly just fields of color, without the semi-surrealistic features of my other pieces. It is a 30×30, so a fairly nice big square. It’s also already gone, but I wanted to post it anyway. The other pieces are available for viewing at the studio in the Factory at Franklin. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
I was able to get a version of the flyer that I can post. This looks like it should be a good show - lots of good artists in it. It is also for a good organization. So I invite everyone to attend the show and support the arts and Christ the King. jcannon1@bellsouth.net
