This is a little landscape like I like to do. Lots of clouds and motion in the sky, good colors and texture on the ground. You’ll see several of these in the gallery. Most are sold. This one is still available. I have not framed it, and it’s a 12×16, so I have it for $75.00, plus tax and shipping, if applicable. jcannon1@bellsouth.net or 615-496-1259.

Another thing I have not talked about much is portraits. I did this one of these two kids from a photo. The ideal way to do portraits is from life, but who really has the time to sit for one? So I work from photos. Takes a little more effort to be sure that the features track and work within the painting, but the results can be very good. If you are interested in portraits, contact me at jcannon1@bellsouth.net or 615-496-1259. You can e-mail me the photos to work from. Price will vary depending on size, framing, etc.

This one is “Metaphors.” It is a double piece, and is very vibrant with the colors. The photo does not really show up the purple and blue as well as could be. Those colors really stand out against the pulsating red and yellow. These are fairly small - 6×12 in the two panels. They are gallery wrapped and ready to hang. Price is $95.00 plus tax and shipping, if applicable. jcannon1@bellsouth.net or 615-496-1259.

This one is “Squares.” It’s got three 4×4 blocks on a 12×16 background. The color set on each part is different, and makes for a three dimensional presentation. This is really a neat abstract piece. Price is $195.00, plus tax and shipping, if applicable. Contact me at jcannon1@bellsouth.net or 615-496-1259.
One thing I have not talked about much is instruction. At my studio in the Row at the Factory in Franklin, I hold class times on Friday, 3-4:430 and Saturday, 2-3:30. The students paint under my direction during that time, and I give input and hands on help in the process. I also do demonstrations of the techiniques involved. I also have a Tuesday afternoon class at Studio G Photography in Hendersonville. (See link). Right now, we are on summer break there, but will resume classes on September 4 from 1:30 to 4:30. I teach students at all levels, in oils and acrylics. For information on the classes at Studio G, please contact Kelly Goad. At the Factory, I offer a six lesson set for $125.00, materials not included. Oh, and we try to have a lot of fun in the process. If you are interested in classes, please contact me at jcannon1@bellsouth.net or 615-496-1259.

This is another brand new abstract, called “In the Garden.” This one has a lot of depth, with a natural underpainting, then layers of color on top to represent wild growth and light. It is very striking. This piece is gallery wraped and does not need a frame. It is 20X24, and is offerered for $195.00, plus tax and shipping. Contact me at jcannon1@bellsouth.net or go to my Store on e-bay, JohnCannonArt to purchase with PayPal.

This is another piece done with the acrylic medium, lots of color, lots of movement. I called in “Inferno,” though that sounds a little ominous. I don’t think the piece looks ominous or scary; it just has the kind of motion that fire has. This new techinque really produces some remarkable effects. The finish is also very shiny; hence the “marble” effect of the smaller square pieces. This one is a 20×20, with a regular gallery wrap finish. The colors really have to be seen to be appreciated. This is the kind of piece you could stare at for hours, and always find something new. Come by and see it at the Factory in Franklin. It is $150.00, plus tax. jcannon1@bellsouth.net; 615-496-1259.

This is another of the “marble” series. It’s called “Travertine.” This is just a one piece work, on an 8×8x3 deep canvas. This new technique really looks great, and does have a real “marble” feel to it. These make great decorative pieces. This one is $95.00, plus tax and shipping. jcannon1@bellsouth.net; 615-496-1259.

This is a new technique and creation that I am very excited about. These are extra deep canvases, 8×8x3 and 5×5x3, that form a set. They are done in acrylic, using a medium that forms incredible patterns and colors, as well as a very glossy, marble-like surface. I call these “Elgin Marbles,” and the colors are really deep and beautiful. These are meant as a set, and can be hung on the wall or placed flat on a surface. These are $195.00 for the set, plus shipping and tax. The colors can be selected on commission, as well as sizes. Contact me at jcannon1@bellsouth.net or 615-496-1259.
